PM Modi unveils India's first water metro in Kerala, linking 10 islands | Everything you need to know

In order to provide seamless communication with the metropolis, India's first water metro, which connects 10 islands near Kochi with battery-operated electric hybrid boats, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Kerala.

With comparable levels of convenience and travel experience to conventional metro systems, Water Metro offers a unique urban transit solution. Cities like Kochi benefit greatly from this form of transportation.

"The water metro project in Kochi is a special undertaking. Ahead of PM Modi's visit to Loknath Behera, Kochi Metro Rail Limited's managing director told ANI that the transportation system is a game-changer because of the several islands that encircle Kochi, 10 of which are highly significant and densely inhabited.

Those who depend on the mainland will receive a reliable, luxurious, and sustainable transportation system at a very reasonable cost, he continued.

In delivering infrastructure and connectivity, the Modi administration has consciously decided against taking a one-size-fits-all approach, according to the officials. The improvement of metro connections across the nation serves as a shining illustration of this strategy.
