The Word 'Naatu' is of Telugu origin and simply means 'Dance' in English. The song was set up beautifully in the movie RRR during a Dance battle scene. The song has dance moves and expressions adjusted according to the tune and pace of the music, the song catches energy as it progresses and is as good as needed to be.

What is an Original Song?

The Academy Award for Best Original Song is given every year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It is given to the songwriters who have written the best song, especially for a movie. 

There are certain criteria for a song to be called an Original Song. The Academy rules specify that "an Original Song consists of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for a motion picture. There must be a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition (not necessarily visually presented) or both lyric and melody, used in the body of the motion picture or as the first music cue in the end credits. 

History of Best Original Song

The Best Original Song Category was introduced at the 7th Academy Awards in 1934. Only 4 times the Award was given to non-English songs of which the Latest is "Naatu Naatu" from RRR. The other 3 were "Never on Sunday" from Never on Sunday in Greek in 1960, "Al otro lado del Río" from The Motorcycle Diaries in 2004, and "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire in 2008.

Apart from Oscars Naatu Naatu has won several other Awards The Golden Globe Award, Georgia Film Critics Association Award, the Critic's Choice Award, the Online Film Critics Society Award, and the Houston Film Critics Awards.
