India Demands The Return Of Kohinoor And Independence-Era Relics From The UK. Know What The British Media Are Saying

During the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Kohinoor diamond made headlines. Many Indians urged on social media to return the costly stone to its native India as it was not used in the event.

A few days later, several British media sources stated that the Indian government, presently headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had requested the return of the Kohinoor diamond and several other items from the period before Independence from the United Kingdom.

British news sources claim that India has made the decision to utilize its diplomatic capabilities to recover the contentious Kohinoor diamond, which was a piece of Queen Elizabeth II's crown during her time as the supreme monarch of the United Kingdom.

The Indian government apparently wants to return additional antiquities, such as idols and sculptures from British museums, in addition to the Kohinoor diamond. The claims that are circulating in the British media, however, are largely untrue.

NDTV cited sources that said India has no intentions to use diplomatic and bilateral channels to retrieve the Kohinoor back. According to NDTV reports, the official paperwork didn't even make reference to the Kohinoor diamond.

According to sources who requested anonymity, the provisions of the present international agreement as well as collaboration and partnership are the only topics of discussion regarding the return of objects from the UK. No resources will be devoted to diplomacy.

The Kohinoor diamond has been a source of contention between the British and Indian governments since the Indians claim it was taken during the East India Company's conquest while the UK claims it was given to the Royal Family as a gift.
